Quick Summary: NorthPeptide ships lyophilized peptides at ambient temperature — lyophilization (freeze-drying) makes the product stable at room temperature for the duration of transit. Orders are packaged discreetly, processed within 1–2 business days, and shipped with tracking. International orders may encounter customs inspection, which we handle with arrival guarantee documentation.

Why Lyophilized Peptides Don’t Need Cold Shipping

A common question from first-time buyers is whether peptides need refrigerated shipping. The answer depends on the form. Reconstituted (liquid) peptide solutions are temperature-sensitive and should be refrigerated. But lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides — which is how NorthPeptide ships all its products — are stable at ambient temperature for weeks to months, depending on the specific compound.

Lyophilization removes essentially all water from the product by freezing it and then reducing pressure to allow ice to sublimate directly to vapor. The result is a dry powder that doesn’t support the enzymatic and chemical degradation reactions that require water as a medium. This is why lyophilized peptides can be shipped without ice packs and why they have shelf lives of 12–24 months when stored properly.

Packaging Standards

Primary Packaging

Each vial is sealed with a rubber stopper and aluminum crimp cap, then placed in an individual protective sleeve. Vials are inspected before packaging to confirm the lyophilized cake is intact, the cap is properly crimped, and there is no visible moisture or discoloration.

Secondary Packaging

Products are packed in padded mailers or small boxes with sufficient cushioning material to prevent vial-to-vial contact and absorb impact. For orders of multiple vials, each vial is individually wrapped to prevent glass-to-glass contact.

Discretion

Packages are shipped without branding that identifies the contents as peptides or research chemicals. The return address reflects our shipping facility, not our brand name. This is standard practice in the research chemical industry and protects both the sender and recipient in jurisdictions where customs inspection of labeled peptide shipments can create delays.

Processing and Shipping Timelines

Orders placed before 2:00 PM (local time) on business days are typically processed the same day and handed to the carrier within 1–2 business days. Standard domestic shipping takes 3–7 business days depending on destination. Expedited options are available at checkout for time-sensitive research needs.

International Shipping and Customs

NorthPeptide ships internationally to most jurisdictions where peptide importation for research purposes is permitted. International shipments are accompanied by appropriate customs documentation describing the contents accurately as research chemicals.

Customs processing times vary significantly by destination country — typically 2–10 additional business days. Some countries have more active inspection programs than others. We cannot control customs processing speed, but we document all shipments in a way that facilitates clearance rather than complicating it.

Our Arrival Guarantee

NorthPeptide offers an arrival guarantee on international shipments. If your order is seized by customs or fails to clear, we will reship at no additional charge once per order. Claims must be supported by documentation (customs notice or tracking evidence of non-delivery). See our full policy for specific terms by destination.

What to Do When Your Order Arrives

Upon receipt: inspect the outer packaging for damage before opening. Open carefully and check each vial for intact cap, intact lyophilized cake (visible through glass), and no signs of moisture or discoloration. If anything looks off, photograph it before touching the vial and contact us immediately with the photos — this is necessary for any quality claim to be processed.

Once you confirm the order is intact, store lyophilized vials in a cool, dry location away from direct light. Refrigeration is ideal for long-term storage (3+ months). For research use within 1–2 months, room temperature storage is acceptable for most peptides.
