Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a dual gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It is a synthetic peptide composed of 39 amino acids, engineered to simultaneously activate both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors — a mechanism distinct from single-receptor agonists like semaglutide.

Research has demonstrated that tirzepatide exhibits significant effects on glycemic regulation and body weight reduction through its dual incretin action. Studies indicate it enhances insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, suppresses glucagon release, and slows gastric emptying.
